This is a message to see what you all did this weekend.....feel free to tell us about your 'adventures'....  On Saturday we went to Calafat (a small village south of Tarragona) with my wife's parents and their Nissan Patrol....(and their dog!) I was driving along the beach testing the TR response of the D3 (Sand mode)....it was very impressive. Even on road tyres the Disco didn't get stuck  For some reason, my father-in-law didn't want to test his Patrol

Número de descargas: 0Later on I was testing the Rock Crawl mode of the TR, driving up a very steep hill with lots of deep ruts in the track. The D3 is very easy to control when in Rock Mode, staying in a low gear and the centre differential locking and pulling me up the track very slowly. In this photo you can see the wheel articulation of the D3 suspension. At one point, the rear wheel was in the air (but I didn't want to get out of the car and take a photo!!!)

So, when do you plan on getting the AT2s...? Seems like they'd make a huge difference.
I'm anxious to make the switch myself, but I kind of feel a bit guilty to get rid of my Pirellis right now... they're still in pretty good shape. My weekend wasn't as exciting... Took the baby to a children's theatre on Sunday, and relaxed at home for the most part (and yes, worked on the website a little).... Thing is, here in Madrid you must drive over an hour away to enter 4X4-friendly territory.... Hopefully in a couple fo weeks we'll be able to get a bit mud exposure in Segovia. Once again lots of skiing with the family, as the children didn't have clases I took a free day and went to Cerler.
Losts of people, even more than in Christmas, but it was Ok. I hope winter comes again or soon will be playing with cows at the slopes... 9ºC in january is "too much for the body" spanglish de pura cepa. Regards, Rafa |

This morning I left the house at 07:30 without even wearing a coat! In January!!! They said on the radio that it was very very cold in Andorra, but in Barcelona if feels like April. Hi Paul,
I tested the snow driving during last christmas, 25 cm depth. As I said in previous posts, this year my D3 is wearing winter shoes as we go on skiing almost every weekend. Last year I tested the summer scorpions and I found them quite slippery. With the new shoes things have changed for good. One test is remaining, going downhill in really bad conditions (ice), our car is so heavy that I have some doubts on controlling this situation even with all the electronics. Will see... For this weekend the weather forecast is 1000 m freezing level an some snow with strong north winds, good luck Rafa |
